    Question

Why aren't the Description Templates updating the format of the Description field of an item record for predicted serial issues?

    Answer

Prediction patterns in Alma work according to LC's rules that govern MARC 853/4/5 fields.  Alma uses those rules take data from the 85X field and format it accordingly. The information inserted in the item record's Description field is a result of that action.

The Description field can be manually edited by Alma users with the Physical Inventory Operator role.
