    Getting Started

    Introduction

Alma Starter is a unified E-resource management platform designed to make e-resource management more efficient, maximize collection value, and enhance the patron experience. With Alma Starter, you’ll benefit from centralized management of e-resources, streamlined workflows, insightful analytics, a built-in Link Resolver, and so much more.

Built on the Alma library services platform, Alma Starter delivers a modern, cloud-based experience that thousands of libraries around the world have come to expect, including the most comprehensive knowledge base available, unrivaled security and privacy, and agile development with a focus on user experience and accessibility.

    Acquisitions Options

A flexible solution, Alma Starter offers two Acquisition workflow options- Slim or Full Acquisitions.

Available by default, Slim Acquisitions supports the creation and use of license records, vendor records, and usage data. Many electronic resources require licenses from the vendors that provide the resources. Alma Starter enables you to enter license and vendor information for tracking and informational purposes. Alma Starter has insight into e-resource usage in two ways. Firstly, Alma includes an embedded Link Resolver. Alma Link Resolver data is automatically available and always reportable. Secondly, Alma can manually ingest or automatically harvest usage statistics supplied by content providers in the COUNTER format.

In addition to license records, vendor records, and usage data support, Full Acquisitions enables end-to-end workflows and tools for purchasing, invoicing, renewal, evaluation, cost-per-use reporting, and more to manage and streamline the process of acquiring e-resources. Selection workflows are optionally available for ebooks directly via Alma Starter. To learn more, see ProQuest’s Rialto Marketplace.
