    Description

PubMed Central has launched several updates to its website regarding the functionality and labeling of the PMC Journal List, as well as modifications to certain fields within the downloadable PMC Journals holdings. These updates include a new filtering method that allows users to more easily identify and access specific journal collections based on their criteria, improving the overall search and retrieval experience. This new method consolidates all formats of access, including hybrid, open access, and full text, into one collection, making it simpler for users to find the content they need.

Following these changes, Ex Libris has designated one collection to better align with PMC’s updated configuration and will maintain this collection exclusively to provide one convenient source for customers.

    Resolution

As of October, the updated CSV format is officially implemented, and Ex Libris has made corresponding updates to our platforms:
    •  The PubMed Central collection (Col. ID 111058563444000 DBID RPM), which has higher activation rates, has been updated with the new title list and mapped to CDI, supporting the retrieval of hybrid journal results.
    •  Starting November 2024, the PubMed Central Open Access collection (Col. ID SFX/Alma: 1000000000000702) will remain in the CZ, but will no longer be maintained.
We recommend activating The PubMed Central collection (Col. ID 111058563444000 DBID RPM) to benefit from a more accurate coverage.

Please note that the active collection includes all of PubMed's content. The new filter, "all articles," encompasses open-access and "NIH-funded articles", meaning some articles for this journal may not be open-access.

    Additional Information
