Project Gutenberg Online Catalog (Collection ID 613780000000001569) is a collection of more than 65,000 public domain books.
Because most records do not have an ISBN, much of the matching in the Alma Community Zone was done by title. In some cases, Project Gutenberg portfolios were linked to the wrong bibliographic records with the same title. Another longstanding issue involves the dates listed in Project Gutenberg records, which reflect the upload date to the platform rather than the original publishing date. This has caused many incorrect dates to appear in the records associated with Gutenberg portfolios.

Solution:

Our solution for this collection is to move the portfolios to new bibliographic records created specifically for it, using the MARC records provided by Project Gutenberg.
These new records will not include publishing dates, as Gutenberg does not supply them. However, they will accurately describe the resources included in the Gutenberg portfolios.

The project is scheduled to take place between April and May 2025. If your institution has activated this collection, you will see the portfolio changes reflected in your task list.
