CNKI - China National Knowledge Infrastructure
CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) has confirmed that they are not currently supplying metadata for inclusion in the Ex Libris knowledgebases.
However, the provider is considering how they can provide the relevant metadata.
As a result, Ex Libris will be unable to ingest or maintain CNKI collections through our standard processes. Currently, Ex Libris does not have a feed to maintain the collection.
We understand the importance of accurate and current metadata for effective library management, discovery, and access, and we regret any inconvenience this may cause to institutions relying on this content.
Please note the following important implications:
- Removal of Collections with Broken Links: Upon notification from customers, CNKI collections with broken links will be reviewed and removed from the Alma Community Zone (CZ) to prevent ongoing access issues.
- Availability of Outdated Collections: Existing CNKI collections, which are no longer updated, will remain available for activation.
These collections will be clearly marked as 'Not Maintained' in the Alma CZ, indicating that their metadata is outdated and no longer curated.
We recommend that institutions seeking updated or complete metadata for CNKI content reach out to the provider directly.
Engaging with CNKI may offer the most effective means of obtaining current and comprehensive data for local management purposes.
Should CNKI’s position change in the future or if a new collaboration becomes possible, we will inform the community accordingly.
