What is happening with the De Gruyter and Brill platforms?

    Answer

De Gruyter and Brill launched a new combined platform, degruyterbrill.com, on April 3rd, 2025. Degruyterbrill.com now replaces degruyter.com as their main website. All pages from degruyter.com automatically redirect to degruyterbrill.com, ensuring a seamless transition. All Brill books are now discoverable on degruyterbrill.com, but you can still access titles via brill.com, with direct links provided on each product page. Collections remain unchanged, and no changes are needed on the Ex Libris side at this time.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do the existing links to content still work?

Yes, all existing links to De Gruyter content automatically redirect to degruyterbrill.com. Brill.com remains active, so no immediate changes are needed for your institution’s links.

Is there a timeline for further platform development?

The current focus is on successfully launching degruyterbrill.com and ensuring a smooth transition. De Gruyter expects to fully migrate all content to degruyterbrill.com, but not before 2026 for Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht content and 2027 for Brill content.

What about Alma integration and metadata quality?

We recognize that Alma integration is a key concern, and De Gruyter is working on solutions before merging any systems between Brill and De Gruyter. Their goal is to maintain De Gruyter’s high metadata standards and improve metadata quality for Brill titles to meet industry guidelines.
