Closing inactive ideas

Idea Exchange is the main source for the Content Operations team to learn of content gaps. As the ideas keep coming from our devoted community members from around the world, we want to ensure our system stays focused and efficient.

Therefore, in collaboration with the Content Working Group, Ex Libris has established a policy to close ideas after three years of inactivity (i.e., no comments or votes), and have less than 30 votes.

Once an idea is closed, the votes associated with it will be freed up, allowing you to allocate your votes to other ideas. The idea itself and any associated comments including the name and info of the submitter will be accessible via the Idea Exchange system.

This policy supports the community by achieveing the following:

  1. Resource Allocation: By closing inactive ideas, resources can be redirected to more current and active requests, ensuring that the team focuses on what users currently need and want.

  2. Vote Management: Freeing up votes from inactive ideas allows users to support newer or more relevant suggestions, potentially leading to more impactful changes or improvements.

  3. Streamlined Process: It helps in maintaining a cleaner and more organized system, making it easier to manage and review ideas.

If you still feel strongly about a specific idea that is being closed, we suggest reviewing the idea to strengthen it before considering reposting it.
We understand that this cleanup may impact some of the ideas you've supported, and we want to assure you that this decision was made after careful consideration and after a discussion with the Content Working Group who shared valuable insights. We value your feedback and encourage you to continue submitting and voting for ideas that you believe will enhance metadata in the Knowledge Bases and CDI.
