Upgrading from MetaLib 3.13 to 4.2.0 - Upgrade Express Kit Updated

Dear MetaLib customers,

If you were in the middle of the Upgrade Express process and have now installed MetaLib Minor Release 4.2.0, please obtain the most recent Upgrade Express patch that will allow the Upgrade Express Kit to work in the new 4.2.0 environment.

For further details, please see the "Resolution" section in this posting that describes possible scenarios.

Resolution:
1. If you have installed version 4 and have applied MetaLib Service Pack 4.2.0 but haven’t yet downloaded the UE Kit – proceed as usual. Download the new UE Kit from the Ex Libris FTP server following the standard instructions.

The updated UE KIT is upgrade_express_313_400.tar.1.11.gz dated April 28, 2008.

Note that the existing documentation available via the Ex Libris Documentation Center ("MetaLib Upgrade Express Overview - 3.13 to 4.x" and "MetaLib Upgrade Express User Guide 3.13 to 4.x") is also relevant for MetaLib version 4.2.0. We are updating the version references in our MetaLib user documentation and will post updated documents as they are completed.

2. If you previously downloaded the UE Kit and have already downloaded and applied version 4.2.0 – you will need to update the existing UE Kit on your MetaLib server before continuing with the upgrade process. To do so, perform the following steps to obtain the special UE patch:

>kitm
>ftp ftp.exlibris.co.il
Enter user and password
>bin
>get metalib_ue_fix_allowmlrev2.15042008.tar
>quit
>tar –xvf metalib_ue_fix_allowmlrev2.15042008.tar

3. If you previously downloaded the UE Kit but have not yet completed the upgrade process – you may download and install version 4.2.0. You will then need to update the existing UE Kit on your MetaLib server before continuing the upgrade process. To do so, perform the steps outlined in
paragraph 2.
