    How to use custom URL links for the thumbnail displayed for a record in Primo

    • Article Type: General

    Desired Outcome Goal:

    Add thumbnails of the cover images to Primo search results based on a URL in the source record
     

    Procedure:

    1) Note when and where the thumbnail URL is included in your source records
    2) Edit the normalization rules to create a transformation that places the URL in the <links:thumbnail> field preceded by "$$U":
    e.g. <links><thumbnail>$$Uwww.college.edu/thumbnail1.jpg</thumbnail></links>
    3) Save and deploy the Normalization Rule changes
    4) Run a renormalization pipe to change the data in the PNX with the new Normalization Rules
    5) Run an indexing process to put the changes into the Front End search results
