    Question

When the MARC source field contains a space character encoded as blank ( ) or caret (^) at the specific position, how to use the validation routine "Check characters at position" in your Normalization rules to cover both cases?

    Answer

If the position in question is 21, use the following:

    21@@ ^

Please note that there is an additional blank character between @@ and ^ - this is on purpose.
