    Question

Why does the scope dropdown continue to appear in the Basic Search box after the Library Search (sometimes called, New Search) link is clicked?
There are no scopes defined (leaving an empty, "google-like" search box), so the scope dropdown only appears in the Basic Search box when MetaLib databases have been selected via the Find Databases link in the Main Menu.
When it does appear, the dropdown only contains the "Everything" option and "Currently Selected Databases" option.

    Answer

The Currently Selected Databases option will continue to appear until the selected databases are manually cleared from the Find Databases lightbox (or the session expires).
The selection can be cleared by opening the Find Databases lightbox from the Main Menu and manually un-selecting selected databases.

    Additional Information

Note that clicking the "Clear Selection" button in the Find Databases lightbox is intended to empty the search fields, not to de-select selected databases
