Configuring the AZ List for Database and Journal Searches
(New for May 2025)The AZ DB and Journal Search Configuration page (Configuration > Discovery > Other > AZ DB and Journal Search Configuration) enables you to add an AZ List to the Database and Journal Search pages. When configured, users can search for journal and database titles by selecting a specific character or a group of digits (0-9).
Although this functionality is disabled by default, the characters for the following languages are configured for you if activated. You may remove, add, or change specific characters:

English - A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z

Hebrew - א,ב,ג,ד,ה,ו,ז,ח,ט,י,כ,ל,מ,נ,ס,ע,פ,צ,ק,ר,ש,ת

Traditional Chinese - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25,26+
-
Norwegian - A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z,'Æ', 'Ø','Å'
In addition, you can configure the characters as needed for other languages activated on the Institution Languages page (Configuration > General > General Configuration > Institution Languages).

Open the AZ DB and Journal Search Configuration page (Configuration > Discovery > Other > AZ DB and Journal Search Configuration).

Select Add Language to open the Add Languages page.

Specify the following fields per language:

Language – Select the language for which you want to support the AZ List.

Display Label – Specify the display label for the AZ List. This label appears when an AZ List is configured for multiple languages. In addition, you can translate the label for each AZ List by selecting the World icon.

Letters – Type a comma-separated list of letters and other characters you want to include in the AZ List.

Include 0-9 – Select this check box to include a link for the group of digits (0-9).
