Setting Up Single Sign On Access to *Research Professional
*Research Professional supports single sign on (SSO) via Shibboleth integration. If your institution has opted to set up SSO for *Research Professional you will be able to log in to the platform using the same account you use to access other university resources.
The process for logging in using SSO will be slightly different depending on whether your Shibboleth account and *Research Professional account have already been linked up. Accounts can be linked either by you after logging in to *Research Professional, or by an administrator at your institution.
If your accounts have already been linked:
- From the *Research Professional login page, open the drop-down menu on the left hand side and select your institution's name (note that your institution will only appear here if they have set up SSO access).
- You will be redirected towards your institution's login page. Log in with your usual institutional account.
- You will be returned to *Research Professional, and logged in to your personal *Research Professional account.
If your accounts have not yet been linked:
- Log in to *Research Professional normally, using your *Research Professional username and password.
- Click 'Link to your single sign on account', on the right hand side of the page.
- You will be redirected to your institution's login page. Log in with your institutional account.
- You will see a page confirming that your accounts have been linked. In the future you can log in to *Research Professional using your institutional account.

If you do not have a *Research Professional account:
- From the *Research Professional login page, open the drop-down menu on the left hand side and select your institution's name (note that your institution will only appear here if they have set up SSO access).
- You will be redirected towards your institution's login page. Log in with your usual institutional account.
- You will be shown a page confirming that you have successfully logged in with your university account, and giving you several options to proceed. Click on 'Create new account'.
- Enter the required details (first name, last name, email address and password). You will then be logged in to your new Research Professional account. Your accounts will be automatically linked, so you can log in with your university details in the future.
