    Question

How does Rialto handle MARC records for titles ordered in pre-publication (not yet published)?

    Answer

When the title is added to the cart, Rialto creates a brief record as a placeholder. This brief record can be suppressed from public view if desired, similar to other Alma brief records.

Once the title is published and delivered, Rialto invoices for it. At that point, a full record is delivered.

The delivery and overlaying of the MARC record are handled automatically via import profiles that are set up for the library during implementation by ProQuest’s Rialto implementation team. At this point, the brief record is updated to a full record. This process does not require manual intervention by the customer.
