    Question

What fields are used to match titles and holdings that appear in the Rialto holdings panel?

    Answer

The Rialto holdings panel matches titles primarily through ISBN matching. ISBN's for a title are determined in two ways:

    • The first is how you have them grouped in your Alma holdings.
    • The second is using work grouping information loaded from our Bowker Books In Print database. This creates a fairly comprehensive list of ISBN's to match against for each title.

However, ISBN matching does not catch everything. For this reason, a second dynamic match using a title/author lookup at display time interacts directly with Alma. This will ensure the maximum number of matches will be retrieved.
