    Product: Rialto

    Question

When is an order in Rialto communicated to the actual supplier/publisher?

    Answer

Once orders are placed in Rialto and have been received by the processing department, an automated job is scheduled to pick up purchase orders and send them to the supplier/publisher.

    • The purchase orders for print orders are sent to the supplier twice a day.
    • For eBook orders, particularly those ordered from Ebook Central (EBC) and Taylor & Francis (T&F), turnaround is almost immediate, unless there is a problem with the order.
    • For the rest of the eBook suppliers, the schedule and automation depend on the publisher platform and some are sent manually.

As a general rule all eBook and print orders should be on order with the supplier within 24 hours.

For orders that fail the automated sending, these are diverted to the Book Acquisitions Help Desk queue for further diagnosis, before pushing through to the supplier. Diagnostic checks may include checking for duplicate titles, price parameter checks, etc.
