    Description

The Rosetta system librarian would like to make a system-level change (e.g. remounting the file systems), but wants to be sure not to disrupt any running processes or actively logged-in users sessions.

    Resolution

To check the active logged in sessions:

    1. Connect to the APP server as the 'dps' user and cd to /exlibris/dps/d4_1/pds/pds_files/

    2. enter 'pwd' [/exlibris/dps/d4_1/pds/pds_files]

    3. Enter 'ls -lrt'

     -rw-rw-r--. 1 dps exlibris 147 Jan 12 14:01 counters
     -rw-rw-r--. 1 dps exlibris  47 Jan 12 14:01 z311.exl_id.admin1
     -rw-rw-r--. 1 dps exlibris 367 Jan 12 14:01 z311.12120161415735029150078503954

The above informaton means that at the time this was viewed there was only one user "admin1" logged in.

dps users can also check if there are jobs running to ingest or update records.

Those jobs might be initiated by the application but not by logged in users.

Finally, dps users can tail –f the server.log on all APP servers to see if there are active jobs running:

    1. Connect to the APP server as the 'dps' user and 'dps_log' [/operational_shared/logs/<server_dns_name>]
    2. Enter 'tail -f server.log'
    3. If any processes are currently running their logging information will scroll up the screen.
