Summon: Content Requiring Authentication to be Visible in Search Results
- Product: Summon
Which citations are available in Summon search results only to authenticated users?
For most content within Summon, searching does not require authentication into your library's system. In other words, an off-site patron who has not yet authenticated can perform a search and get citation results. (Of course, until they are authenticated, users can see the full text only of open-access documents.)
However, for some databases (such as the Web of Science citation index), citations do not appear in Summon search results unless the patron has authenticated with your library system. The Authentication Banner allows unauthenticated users to authenticate prior to conducting a search. For a complete list of collections, filter the Summon CDI Collection List with Search Rights set to subscription.
For a complete list of A & I resources in CDI, most of which require authentication, filter the Summon CDI Collection List with CDI Type set to Abstracting and Indexing database (A&I). For additional information, see Including Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) Databases.
