Error during Software backup process on Sun servers

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Verde
    • Product Version: 2

    Description:
When trying to backup the software on Sun servers, the process fails if there are any files with long names (over 100 characters).
Example for the error message when running the Backup Software procedure from the Verde utility menu (util/v/11/2):

The backup of /exlibris/verde/v2_3/verde has started..............................................................................................................tar: /exlibris/verde/v2_3/verde/home/system/log/client.log.2009-04-25: file changed size
......................................................................................................................................................................................tar: tmp_9147E07BC5E48951E0B58FAB3B9B90DC_1240755959467_acqloadertemp(1)testtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.xls: filename is greater than 100
    .......................................................................................................................................... [1] + Terminated csh -f /exlibris/verde/v2_3/verde/proc/util/service_pack/printdots.csh ...

The backup failed. Please contact Verde support.
    exit: label not found

Such long named files are usually files that were copied to the server from a PC (e.g. loader input files) and have no further use. These files can be found under /exlibris/verde/v2_1/verde/home/data/import (alias: vimport) and starts with 'tmp_...'.

This error should be prevented by making the name of these files shorter
