license renewal task and Vendor Advance Notice field
- Article Type: General
- Product: Verde
- Product Version: 2
Description:
Our User Guide states that "The Verde License Renewal task renews licenses that are about to expire. It also creates a report of licenses that have to be renewed explicitly and are up for renewal. The license renewal process uses the Vendor advance notice field in the license to determine when licenses should be reported for renewal".
However the License renewal task does not always show all future dates. Sometimes invoices with the future expiration dates are displayed in the report and sometimes they're not, but it's hard to follow the relation to the Vendor advance notice field and displaying the future licenses in the License renewal report.
This example was created in April 2010:
1) The following license with these parameters was created:
Type: Regular
*License method: Click through
*License start date: 01-Apr-2010
*License end date: 20-Apr-2010
*License execution date: 08-Apr-2010
Standard duration: 2 weeks
*Vendor advance notice: 15 days
*Renewal type: Automatic
*License status: Approved
*Licensor: A. & S.G. JANIEC
*Licensee: Berlin_WIAS
When the License renewal task was run without any parameters, DB update unchecked, the license was not displayed in the report.
2) Then this license was created:
Type: Regular
*License method: Click through
*License start date: 01-Apr-2010
*License end date: 15-Apr-2010
*License execution date: 08-Apr-2010
Standard duration: 2 weeks
*Vendor advance notice: 5 days
*Renewal type: Automatic
*License status: Approved
*Licensor: 21st Century Music
*Licensee: ART
When the License renewal task was run in the same manner as before, the license was displayed correctly.
Both licenses have future dates, so it's odd that the first license doesn't appear in the report while the second one does. Manipulating the "Days before expiration parameter" doesn't affect the results.
