Are MARC records made read-only when a regen is running?
Answer
Some type of MARC record is typically set to read-only during a regen. Which records depends on the type of regen.
- For bibliographic (bib) keyword and bib left-anchored regens
- Bib records will be read-only.
- Bib records can be searched, but cannot be created or updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.
- For holdings(MFHD) keyword and MFHD left-anchored regens
- MFHD records will be read-only.
- MFHD records can be searched, but cannot be created/updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.
- For authority left-anchored regens
- Authority records will be read-only.
- Authority records can be searched, but cannot be created or updated in Cataloging. Staff in Cataloging, Acquisitions and Circulation will be able update/create bibs and mfhds.
- For headings regens
- Bib and authority records will be read-only.
- Bib and authority records cannot be created/updated in Cataloging, Circulation or Acquisitions.
Additional Information
For all regens, staff in Circulation will be able to circulate items, as item records are not affected.
