The Voyager 8.2 release notes state that the new patron fields (Department, Major, Birthdate) will not be added to the Patron SIF, but we need these fields in the SIF to load them. Why haven't they been added?

Answer

Voyager 8.2.0 also includes a new XML Patron Import Utility. This new utility is more flexible than the patron SIF.

Department, Major and Birthdate fields will not be loadable via the older Patron Update/Patron SIF process, but are loadable via the XML Patron Import Utility, which will also more readily accommodate any future changes/additions to patron record fields.
