    Question

When using "Process File" button in Pick and Scan, the first entry in the file produces:

Unable to update bib record: item id not found

Unable to update holdings record: item id not found

Unable to update item record: item id not found

I know that my file is good.  This happens with both record IDs and barcodes.  What do I need to do?

    Answer

Pick and Scan is sensitive to complex network configurations, and network connection issues and instabilities.

This has been known to occur when running Pick and Scan over a complicated network infrastructure (such as working from home via a campus VPN).

The recommended workaround is to run Pick and Scan from a system that is on the LAN and which has a direct connection to the network1.

1Another possible workaround would be to try closing the client and reopening it, then run Pick and Scan again.
