    Question

What happens if I run a Voyager Global Data Change (GDC) job, and another user happens to have one of the target bib records open?

    Answer

The same thing will happen that happens when two catalogers have the same record open: the first to save the record will "win".  The second cataloger will get a message like this:

    ---------------------------
    Voyager Cataloging
    ---------------------------
This record has been updated by:
    myuser at 2/22/2022 09:41 AM.
View the current version before saving?
"No" will save your version and overlay the previous updates.
    ---------------------------
    Yes   No   Cancel
    ---------------------------

Since GDC is very fast, the odds are that GDC will "win".

In this event, the cataloger would get the following options:

Click yes: the record refreshes, showing the new (GDC-updated) version of the record... meaning the user loses all of their unsaved changes.
Click no: the user saves their version of the record, which will not include your GDC cleanup.

Support's advice is to run Global Data Change jobs during "off hours" to avoid this situation.
