What is in LOCATION_OPAC field?

Question

I was looking at the LOCATION table and noticed the column LOCATION_OPAC that has values Y or blank. What is the LOCATION_OPAC field?

Answer

This column is a holdover from early releases of Voyager. The field is no longer used. Y and N values in this column are from past releases. New locations will be blank. The column now used is SUPPRESS_IN_OPAC field which is also in the LOCATION table. This is what governs whether the location is shown in OPAC.
