Why Lost status applied inconsistently for item type?

    • Product: Voyager
    • Product Version: 8.1.1

    Question

Lost status is not applied to overdue fines when expected. Examples:

    • Items of same type due on 12/12/2012, and in matrix set to Lost after 7 days. Some items set to Lost status on 12/20/2012, and others not set to Lost until 1/12/2013.
    • Immediately after the items become overdue the status shows as “Lost-System Applied”

    Answer

The Lost Interval in the Circulation Policy Matrix determines when the Lost-System Applied status is applied to an overdue item.

The items marked Lost - System Applied on 1/12/2013 were charged under a different Circulation Policy Matrix. That is, items were charged and item type was subsequently edited and given a different item type.

The item type of the item at time of charge dictates matrix settings. In this case, the matrix for the item type at time of charge has a Lost Interval of 30 days, which was applied as expected according to that matrix.
