    Description

First session in Voyager Administrative Topics series. Recorded April 13, 2018.

Covers what PuTTY is and how to configure this telnet client, common Unix commands, and basic Voyager checks for your environment.

    Target Audience

System Administrators, and any library staff responsible for performing tasks on the server.

    Prerequisites

Familiarity with Windows, installing and configuring software

    Session Q&A submissions
    • Is the "S" really uppercase when using ls flag for sort by size?
    • Which batch jobs should be set up in crontab?
    • When you talk about regularly restarting Voyager, is just restarting Voyager, Apache and Oracle sufficient, or is a system reboot (therefore changing uptime) still important?
      • See What tasks are required to maintain the Voyager server? and note recommendations under "Reboots" section. Daily application restart and weekly server reboot are recommended.
