Why are article links not produced to The Lancet via Science Direct when a DOI is not supplied?

At this time the linking target to The Lancet (ISSN 0140-6736) via the Science Direct platform has been limited to DOI linking only. This means that a DOI must be presented from the referring source (or manual entry into the Citation Finder) in order to obtain the article link. Unfortunately, 360 Link had to temporarily disable metadata linking to The Lancet because we found that in most cases when using metadata linking the article link was producing an error message or a large result set.
We have escalated this matter to Elsevier and are awaiting specific instructions on how to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused and hope to rectify the matter in partnership with Elsevier as soon as possible.
