    Aleph slow / exceptionally high iowait%

    Problem Symptoms:
    Extreme slowness in production Aleph instance. "top" shows wa% (iowait%) very high (40-60%).

    Cause:
    Netbackup and RMAN daily backups taking too long.

    Resolution:
    Use Snapshot backup instead of Netbackup/RMAN. Move (hosted) site to more powerful server.
