    Description:
When Acquisitions staff creates a hold, they look up the patron name and use the pull down to "CREATE HOLD" and update the order. Then when circ staff check-in the item the hold slip should be printed and hold letter emailed to the patron. However, sometimes they get a “Request’s Send Method is Illegal” message. Then they have to delete the hold, recreate it and check it in again and it works correctly. This only seems to happen with the hold requests placed in Acquisitions.

Unfortunately I don’t have any examples right now as this is a random problem. Staff doesn’t always get the error message.

I found another SI regarding the error message and the solution had to do with tab27. I looked at our tab27 and don’t see anything that looks incorrect. Not to mention we haven’t modified this table in quite some time.

    Tab27:

    ! 2 3 4 5
    !-!!!!!-!!-!!!!!-!!
    H ABCMM 01 ##### 01
    H ABCMM 70 ##### 01
    H ABCZN 01 ##### 01
    H ABCAP 01 ##### 01
    H ABCHS 01 ##### 01
    H ABCLA 01 ##### 01
    H ABCLO 01 ##### 01
    H ABCMU 01 ##### 01
    H ABCSI 01 ##### 01
    H ABCAN 70 ##### 01
    H ABCAP 70 ##### 01
    H ABCHS 70 ##### 01
    H ABCLA 70 ##### 01
    H ABCLO 70 ##### 01
    H ABCMU 70 ##### 01
    H ABCSI 70 ##### 01
    H ABCHM 08 ##### 01

Any ideas what would be causing this problem?

    Resolution:
Per KB 16384-7880, the site added the wildcard line to tab27, but was still occasionally getting the message.

Site is using the following SQL periodically to monitor the situation:

    SQL> select z37_rec_key, z37_open_date, z37_send_action from z37 where z37_rec_key not in (select z37_rec_key from z37 where z37_send_action = 1);
