    Description

In the v23 AIK (Aleph Installation Kit), I am on the task of installing Oracle and creating a database. I need to choose the "Oracle Installation Type" of Remote or Local. Since the database is going to be local to the server, I want "Local", but that option is not accepted. It keeps coming back to asking the same question over and over and only "Remote" will be accepted. And when it is accepted, then creation of the database will not work because it thinks it does not need one.

    Resolution

In the earlier AIK step 2.6  ("Create Aleph and Oracle required directories as root user"), "SW_ONLY" was entered in response to the question "Insert Installation type [ ALL, SW_ONLY, DB_ONLY ]".

SW_ONLY should be used only in a TWO_TASK setup where there's a separate database server and the AIK is being run on the application server.  The normal (and, in this case, correct) response is "ALL".
