    Description:
How are journal renewals are handled? How does the system know we are renewing subscriptions, and not ordering additional copies of the same journal title?

    Resolution:
When you have a serial order, you supply a date for the SUBSCRIPTION_DATE_TO which is some time in the future, so you would *not* create a new order each year; you would use the same order/subscription from year to year. You would simply create a new encumbrance for the new fiscal year. This can be done by running the p_acq_05/p_acq_06 for Serials, which generates the new encumbrance.

The p_acq_23 Service creates subscription renewal letters. It sends a letter to a vendor that contains a list of serials subscriptions and/or standing orders to be renewed. See the p_acq_23 Help for more information.
