After Running p_manage_01, Keyword Searches Get No Results

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
After running p_manage_01 to regenerate the keyword indexes for abc30, keyword searches return no results.
There is no message indicating zero results: it just displays a single line with the name of the index you selected to search (and no actual results).

    Resolution:
#1. Opening a new browser session corrected the problem. (The previous session had been performed at a time that the index was not working and was pointing to incorrect z05/z110 result sets.)

#2. A check of the z95, z97, and z98 tables showed reasonable numbers for the z95 (one for each bib) and z97 (1/3 to 2/3 the number of z95's), but the z98 (which should have about three times the number of z95's) had zero.

A check of the abc30_p_manage_01.00079 log showed:
    Exiting due to job suspension.

    The abc30 $data_scratch/p_manage_01_e.error shows:
    Sort Failure\n\n-rw-r--r-- 1 aleph19 aleph 10303932 Aug 5 18:46 /exlibris/aleph/u19_1/ucd30/scratch/manage_01_6.1

    and p_manage_01_e1_1.log:
sort: missing NEWLINE added at end of input file /exlibris/aleph/u19_1/ucd30/scratch/manage_01_6.1
sort: can't read /exlibris/aleph/u19_1/ucd30/scratch/manage_01_6.1: Illegal byte sequence

This problem and its solution are described in KB 16384-12819.
