Description

After installing v21 Service Pack 2638, any attempt to connect with the GUI gets "Failed to read reply".  The pc_server log shows:

  Execution error : file '/exlibris/aleph/a21_1/aleph/exe/character_conversion_line.gnt'

or, possibly:

  Execution error : file '/exlibris/aleph/a21_1/aleph/exe/pc_server.gnt'

Resolution

For this service pack, the Third Party Products need to be installed before doing Install service pack: 
1. uninstall Service Pack 2638 (util sp:  5.  Run SP Utility --> 9. Uninstall Service Pack 2638)
2. install the Third Party Products
3. install Service Pack 2638
