    Aleph Discontinues Certification of Internet Explorer from Aleph version 24

    Dear colleagues,

    Microsoft recommends using Microsoft Edge as your default browser and supports Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility. Internet Explorer 11 is the last major version of Internet Explorer. For customers running on an older version of Internet Explorer, Microsoft recommends customers migrate to the latest version of Edge.     The usage of Internet Explorer is decreasing while people are switching to faster and more secured browsers.

    Ex Libris, together with the Aleph Working Group, has decided to discontinue Internet Explorer (IE) browser certification from Aleph version 24.

    Users may still access Aleph using IE, however it will no longer be certified and tested as part of our releases.

    We would like to encourage you to approach your administrator and ask for a recommendation for a browser to use instead: Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

     

    To remove IE dependencies in Aleph GUI client (for example to Chrome), please change the following settings in .\Alephcom\tab\Alephcom.ini:

    Note: In Cataloging Record Editor - Web OPAC view (bottom screen) a "Mini" browser based on Internet Explorer MS-Windows controls is used.
    Opening an external link (HTML based URL) from this Window is no longer possible without Internet Explorer installed.
