Alert (rather than in-transit) for item returned at different location

    Question

Is it possible to have an alert in the GUI when an item is returned at a different location (not its home)? Looking at ./xxx50/tab/tab_attr_sub_library, a loan/return can be prevented based on the IP, but is it possible to only have an alert and still be able to return the item?

    Answer

If the workstation is not authorized (in tab_attr_sub_library) to return items for sublibrary xxxxx, when an attempt is made at the workstation to return an xxxxx item, an in-transit loan will be created for the item and an in-transit slip is produced. There is no option to have an alert pop up and allow the return instead.

    Additional Information

Article 000020005 ("Alert on return for one collection") discusses how a Circulation Note can cause an alert, but this is probably not practical for larger numbers of items/collections.
