    Description:
In v15.5, when we create a new Holding record by clicking "Create New" from the "List of Holdings Connections" dialog box, a $$9 containing the subscription sequence number is automatically added to the holding record and a $$8 containing a system-generated linking number.
This does not occur in v17. We have searched documentation, System Librarian, Configuration Guide, and Knowledge Base. KB5537 indicates "the software automatically creates subfield 8..." but does not tell how to configure it.
How can we configure Aleph for this functionality?

    Resolution:
There is a fix_doc to insert a $$9 into the 853X/854X/855X tag. To implement it, you need to put it in the INS section of tab_fix in the XXX60 library:
    INS fix_doc_add_sf9

Note that this always creates a subscription link of 1 (or 00001). You may need to change it manually if you are adding a subscription link to additional HOL records.

According to the Knowledge Base, $$8 is added automatically when you open the template (form, for a tag).
    Try this:
In a Holdings record, hit F5 (to select a new tag). Select something like 853. Hit CTRL-F to open the form for the tag. Link # ($$8) appears - as does $$9. You can put data into the fields or not. When you close the form, the subfields are there if you want to put in specific linkage that way.
