    BIB-xxxx lines in pc_tab_exp_field.eng

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Column 4 of the SERIAL-SEARCH and ORDER-SEARCH lines in the xxx50/tab/pc_tab_exp_field.eng determines what choices will appear in the "Serial Bar" and "Order Bar" dropdowns. What codes can we use in this column? Also, the code is sometimes prefixed by "BIB-" and in other cases not. Why is that?

    Resolution:
There are two indexes which are "hardcoded" for SERIALS-SEARCH: SICI and Barcode. Each has a special program which is used to search it..

The special ORDER-SEARCH indexes are the various Z79 codes, such as "ON" (Order number); "RF" (Vendor reference number); etc. The complete list can be seen in the "Order Search"--"Index List" Index dropdown. Any of these can also be specified as an "ORDER-SEARCH" index..
To use bib library/xxx01 indexes, you need to prefix the index code with "BIB-". This indicates that the index is to be found in the xxx01 tab00.eng, etc..

Note: The fact that the Title is both a Z79 ACQ index (code "TIT") and an xxx01 Browse index means that you can specify *either* TIT or BIB-TIT (or BIB-TTL, depending on what you use) as an ORDER-SEARCH index.
