CREATE SYNONYM error: name is already used by an existing object

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
When we do Step 9, Option 1, in the "Parallel Indexing" document to create the Logical Synonyms, we get the following error for the z980, z970, and z101:

    CREATE SYNONYM ...
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object

    Resolution:
This error occurs when the tables (in this case, the z980, z970, and z101) were not dropped prior to doing the util a/17/5.

You need to drop the tables (in the actual library) and then re-run util a/17/5 (in the actual library).
