    Changing Oracle user passwords

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
We have been changing the passwords of the Oracle users. Some of them are OK, but others such as ALEPH_DBA are apparently out of synch: when we try to submit jobs through the GUI Services, we get errors. The passwords for these log-ins were changed in Oracle and then were changed using util y/8.

    Resolution:
When you update Oracle passwords you should *not* do it in Oracle and then in UTIL-Y-8. You should do it *only* in UTIL-Y-8.

UTIL-Y-8 updates the password both in ALEPH *and* in Oracle. (It prompts you with the question as to whether you want to change the password in ORACLE. You must reply Yes to this.)

In order to correct this situation, you need to change the password back to the original password in Oracle and then use UTIL-Y-8 to make the change.
