Changing an author name in AUT library by adding a diacritic character

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Problem Symptoms:
Modifying an AUT record from e.g. "Gal, Hans" to "G?l, Hans" produces correctly a COR field but confuses the entry in the headings list in BIB library. This is because the diacritic character is suppressed for building the index entry and so the preferred term and the COR field have "identical" entries and are reported in the index list as one entry.?

    Configuration

    ./xxx01/tab/tab_filing

    !1 2 3 4

    !!-!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    01 N char_conv FILING-KEY-10

    $alephe_unicode/tab_character_conversion_line

    FILING-KEY-10 ##### # line_utf2line_utf naco_diacritics

    $alephe_unicode/naco_diacritics

    00E9 0045 #LATIN SMALL LETTER E WITH ACUTE

    Cause:
    Identical entries

    Resolution:
After modifying the AUT record by adding the diacritic character delete immediately the COR field. Then the entry in the index list will be corrected and also all linked title records are updated with the correct name.
