Correction made to Authorite heading isn't reflected in the index.

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 15.2

    Description:
The cataloger added the birth date for this name. She forgot to put the hyphen after the date. So she went back and corrected the AUT record. However, even though the change was saved in the AUT record, the change has not been reflected in the term in the 700 field of the bib record

    Resolution:
Because of indexing normalization rules, 1967 and 1967- normalize to the same form.

The problem occurred because of a cataloger had the typo when they added the birthdate. That person forgot to add the hyphen. The system normalizes both '1967' and '1967-' to the same thing, so it doesn't recognized that the two headings are different.

As your attachment illustrates, the typo is now present in the browse list. Since the system sees '1967' and '1967-' as the same thing, it's not going to modify it. The only two ways to fix this would be via SQL or by rebuilding the entire index from scratch.
