    Courtesy notices sent for loans that were already returned

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Problem Symptoms:
    * Today many of our patrons have complained about receiving loan notices (cir-10, loan-notice-letter.xsl) that were inaccurate
    * the service Courtesy Notices (cir-10) completed successfully without any errors
    * A number of patrons have received reminders about items that they have already returned or notices that are old, i.e. with inaccurate return dates.
    * Here is an example:

    Patron ID XYZ received a loan notice from us Sun, 14 Oct 2012 22:06:52 +0100. The patron claims he have returned the book (SYS 123456789). In the system there's a regular return registered of this item 121002 13:17.

    Cause:
    The print daemon wasn't running for some weeks and when it was restarted, it processed all printfiles that were in the libraries /print directory. This included files with old courtesy notices from the past weeks.

    Resolution:
    Install print daemon on a separate PC and make sure that it runs 24h/7 days a week.
