    Desired Outcome Goal:
    How can the mail server address in the C:\AL500\alephcom\tab\alephcom.ini be confirmed as correct?
    For example:
    MailServer=college.abc.ac.il

    Procedure:
    1. On the PC, with the following settings
    * alephcom.ini is set to
    MailServer=il-exchange01
    * Mail server port = 25
    2. Do Start button > Run > cmd > telnet [space] [address of MailServer] [space] [25]
    3. A window should pop up which states "ready". (Note: not every server writes the word “ready”; some mail servers write the number "220" which means “service ready”)
    4. If the window stating "ready" does not pop up, then the mail server is wrong and the systems administrator should be contacted
