Why can't inactive barcodes (z308 type 01 with z308_status=NA) be deleted through the gui?

Are they needed for some reason? We have some SSN data for such records.

Can we safely delete these via SQL?

Resolution:
The system requires that each patron have a z308 type 01 barcode record. You can't delete it.

You could use SQL to change it from, for instance, 1234567 to DEL1234567, but note that the z353 (which contains the z308 barcodes) would need to be rebuilt -- by running p_cir_25 -- after making such a change via SQL.
