    Description:
We want to eliminate Social Security numbers from ALEPH. Can we delete all type 02 IDs from z308 (directly via SQL)?

    Resolution:
This is OK.... You, of course, need to make sure that you have some other type z308 for a match point in doing the PLIF load (and, of course, that that other type z308 is added *before* you delete the type 02), but there is no reason that the deletion of the type 02 z308's would cause a problem for ALEPH.

As a precaution, we recommend backing up the z308 with p_file_03 before doing such a deletion.

Note: This is *not* true of the type 01 (barcode) z308's. The system requires a type 01 z308. Also, the type 01 z308 is included in the z353 patron ID index, while the type 02-up are not.
