Display of Course Reserves information in OPAC is incomplete

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
On our production machine one of our courses (SW881) is displaying incompletely in the OPAC. There are 33 items assigned to SW881. If you search by course number only 27 of the 33 items display. If you search by instructor (blauroch) only 26 of the 33 items display. All items display correctly within the Course Reserves module. Why is this? All items were add 2 weeks ago so the indexing should be complete.

    Resolution:
The abc30 util f/4 for the z01 showed that the filing sequence# for key "CNF SW881" is 000129340:

enter file name (or q to exit) z01
    new key = K, exit = Q, continue = RETURN
    k
    key 1 = 1, key 2 = 2, key 3 = 3 key 4 = 4
    1
    Enter start point (CCCCCATTTTTTTT)
    CNF LSW881
    ...
    ...
    02 z01_rec_key \
    03 acc_code ..............CNF
    03 alpha .................L
    03 filing_text ...........SW881
    03 filing_sequence .......29340
    02 z01_acc_sequence ........000129340

And util f/4 for the z02 000129340 showed that there were 33 entries:

enter file name (or q to exit) z02
    new key = K, exit = Q, continue = RETURN
    k
    key 1 = 1, key 2 = 2
    1
    Enter start acc number (nnnnnnnnnn)
    000129340
    -000129340 -000074482
    -000129340 -000074483
    ...
    ...
    -000129340 -000085132
    -000129340 -000085133
    -000129340 -000085143
    -000129340 -000085144
    -000129340 -000085148

And that these five at the end were *not* included in the Brief list of results we see in the OPAC.

I used abc30 util f/1/13 to send doc records 85132 and 85133 to the server -- and we see that they *are* now retrieved by the OPAC SW881 Course Number search.

    {I can see in the ./abc30/scratch/run_e_01.3207366 that these records *were* indexed when they were originally entered in. It seems that something must have changed since that time(?)}

Looking at the list of doc numbers for the 000129340 z02, it seems that -- at the least -- everything under 74820 is indexed properly.

I suggest that you submit p_manage_40 in abc30 with:

    Input file <blank>
    From document number 000074820
    To document number 000085654

This will generate 11,000 Z07s (indexing requests) which the abc30 ue_01 should be able to process in no more than 10 hours.
