Does util g/2 last-doc-number tell you how many doc records are in the library?
- Article Type: Q&A
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 20
Question
We have imported our Oracle records into v20 with Upgrade Express and want to confirm that all of the records were loaded.
The abc01 util/g last-doc-number count is not matching with the count in the oracle_imp_aleph_libs.log.26183.
The former shows 317596 while the latter has 317594.
Answer
util g/2 "last-doc-number" is the highest number which has been assigned to a record in this table. Since it is possible for numbers to have been skipped, it is *not* necessarily a correct indication of the number of records in the table.
There are two ways to get the number of records in a table:
1. util a/17/11/2 ("Check Space Utilization of a Table/Index") or
2. SQL: select count(*) from z00;
In this case, the SQL shows the same number of z00 records on v18 as v20: 317,594.
