    Endnote configuration, field TY

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Desired Outcome Goal:
How is the TY field for Endnote format created? Can the creation be influenced by any parameter setting?

    Procedure:
Regarding field TY you can find the following information in the header of xxx01/tab/edit_doc_777:
! The required tags TY (beginning of record) and ER (end of record)
    ! are automatically supplied by the system;

    Additional information:
The system first checks to see the value of MARC-TYPE in tab100. Here is the header information on that setting:
    !# MARC-TYPE
    !# Values:1 2 3 4 Default: 1
!# Type: Text; Max Length: 01
    !# tab100 of library: Yes; tab100_<server_type>: No.
    !
! defines that type of MARC record
    ! (1=USMARC, 2=UNIMARC, 3=DANMARC, 4=MAB)

If it is 4 (MAB) then the default value of the TY is BOOK.
If it is 1 (USMARC) the record is considered a "Journal" (TY = JOUR) either if position 7 of the LDR is "i", "s" or "b", or if the record has a 773 field with a value in subfield $x (ISSN).If it is 2 (UNIMARC) or 3 (DANMARC) then it checks the 773 to see if it should be set to JOUR, otherwise it is set to BOOK.

Unfortunately there is no way of changing this behavior, it’s hardcoded.
