Failed to read reply"; ".../tmp/f_symbol.23634: Success" restarting pc_server
- Article Type: General
- Product: Aleph
- Product Version: 18.01
Description:
When we were unable to use our gui client this morning (Failed to read reply), I went to Util W to restart the pc_server and, following the "Enter server port number" prompt, got the following message:
/exlibris/aleph/a18_1/tmp/f_symbol.23634: Success
and I was unable to get beyond this point.
Nothing was written to the pc_server log besides the above message.
Resolution:
The /exlibris disk (filesystem) had run out of space.
After fixing that, the pc_server log had these messages:
Load: /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/tab/tab_version
2008-09-08 09:38:17 51 [000] [log] Server does not support client version '18.01'
I found that the /tmp/utf_files/exlibris/aleph/u18_1/alephe/tab/tab_version had a zero length:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 aleph aleph 0 Sep 8 08:51 tab_version
Doing util x/7 corrected the problem.
